Here is my Catalog S3344Q Cross Country set:
This set was a Sears exclusive 3228. It is an exact duplicate of the 3219 Night Haulers, except for adding the 3456 that 3228 has, along with the 3911.
Accessories are the 3414 ( in retail form it’s the 3470, for the in set white boxes, it’s 3414), 3416, 3455, 3456, 3465, 3467, and a 3032 double turn-out with dump bin, which is weird being an accessory, but has a track number…
It uses a lighted 3903, a 3911, and the Blue/Yellow dump. Trailer is the 3946, and it has three 3768’s.
Something about the “overpass” feature that is just so cool! Other than the 3219, and this set, the overpass was first featured in the 1982 3216 Highway Overpass set, when the 3453 Elevated Gravel Dump debuted.
I think that these catalog sets are so cool. Yeah, the retail sets are cool because of the box art, maybe, but these catalog sets are hidden gems with a quirkiness all their own. And they are rare. I’ve dumped all my retail box sets but two (3235 and 3217), and I now have six catalog sets.
