I'm new to the site. I still have my original set that was my favorite toy as a kid (in 80's). I've added to it throughout the years with unopened (new old stock) and have mostly every truck as well as well as set (save for GI Joe -which, in my opinion, doesn't really belong with the theme and workings of a US1 set). One item that I do not have in my collection, however, is the road and rail set. In the last 5 years or so, I've seen about 2-4 of these on E-Bay. Unfortunately, they are always sold by the time I get the alert from E-Bay and take a look at them. They've all sold for what I believe is a great value (between $300 and $500). Anyway, curious to know what your thoughts are for a value on this set (assuming an open box in decent condition). One just sold on E-Bay in a matter of minutes for a $300.00 buy-it-now.

Whoever listed that for 300.00 left a lot of money on the table. Not sure why the did that, they could have listed it for .99 cents and it would have bid well over 300.00. There is not specific value. The market determines the value. This is a highly sought after item that will create a bidding war. There are people that do junk removal that don't care and list it for whatever.

I found a similar steal from a junk removal guy a while back- https://forums.tycous1trucking.com/...3-motor-city-3209-exxon-truck-garage-3445.30/

IMO ALL your paying for is the box and road and rail piece. All the rest of the items are common to most sets. Sorry I don't see the big deal over this set.

The box artwork is thrown together in my perspective. The Highway wrecker set box is so amazing! It's a basic small set, but beautiful colors and artwork on box!

The artist that did the artwork for some of Tyco's early sets was incredible. A good pop of colors and eye catching graphics. It made you want grab it off the shelf. I like the Fire Alert set myself.
