It just occurred to me this week, that the
Smith's Tire Pickup Truck is pretty much the same design as a
Stomper Pick-Up.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Most of the slots are based off slots Tyco had made since the ‘70’s.
The semi cabs are molds from trucks like the brown Pennzoil, and reverse colored 3903.
The
Smiths tire body has a couple variants, the one I remember is the yellow “8-ball” truck. And both
Stomper trucks are the same 1978 (I think) Chevy step-side.
The Police and
Taxi are based from older cars. As is the Firebird. The Ambulance and Fed-Ex are vans from before as well, notably the “blocker” maintenance van, and include the “A-Team” van. The Jeep has quite a few variants as well. The Blazer Stompers also have a number of variants, I been looking at those to make a couple different slots for the 2 extra yellow
Stomper pickups I have. There is a yellow and black blazer body I’m really wanting to convert.
The only slots made for US-1 were the dumps, the Fire Engine, and the Wrecker.
Here is a brand new unmodified cab. It’s on I believe a 440x2 chassis.
The Pennzoil truck matches the US-1 body and it fits the chassis well.
The reverse 3903 has a shorter skirt, so that body hits the motor and doesn’t lock as well, and can be pulled off fairly easy.
