I was toying with the idea would a modified TCR Jam Car Chassis run on US-1? I have seen this mod before so I dove in. I used Slot Car Central's guide found on their site. https://slotcarcentral.wordpress.com/slot-less-to-slotted-conversion-a-how-to-guide/
There are 2 problems with their method.
#1. They cut the back of the chassis too short and left no place for rear guide pin. I used a small wire nail. Tomy guide pin for the front.
#2. No modification to the pickup shoe connections were preformed. If this is not done the car will not travel backward when selected. The diodes underneath the front circuit board have to be cut out and bridge the connections. Some soldering required here.
In conclusion will the chassis run? Yes.
Now for the drawbacks.
#1 It is a slow runner with your standard US-1 power supply. It needs a little more juice.
#2 It is a noisy runner.
#3 Will not fit car bodies such as Firebird, Airport taxi and such. I am going to use it for Van and Jeep bodies. Something that doesn't really do any work at all.
The best thing about it is, it's cheap. These can be found brand new a lot of the time for less than $20.00 shipped.
