Tyco used Richard Petty bumper on #3955 Blue Dodge Charger Airport Taxi (1981-1982)

I never noticed until today that the bumper is from the Tyco Richard Petty #43 Dodge Charger which used the same mold. This is why the bumper says 43 on it and is outlined in red.

I am pretty sure I saw one sold on the new on card that did not have the red outline on the bumper, does anyone know if there are variations.

I think the bumpers (or at least some of the bumpers) were molded in red plastic. The visible red is probably the result of “play wear”. All of the similar police cars also have the same 43 grill.

Possible, but after looking at the Richard Petty car it looks intentional to me, and they achieved the two color look as you described. The wear pattern looks too consistent to be random wear IMHO.
